BONS & EVERS is an independent dutch private company, founded on 7 Juli 1949 by mr. Henk Bons, mr. Herman Evers, mr. Eef Evers and mr. Teun Evers.
The first production of brass forgings was started up in a rented facility (500 sqm) at the Kerkstraat in Borne The business developped well during the first years after the company was established. But soon the company was confronted with a massive setback:
On 3 December 1953 a huge fire broke out in the factory. As the company was not sufficiently insured at the time, this setback had massive financial consequences. However, the company showed strength, survived and started to grow rapidly.
In the early sixties of the last century huge gas fields were discovered in the Netherlands. As a consequence the demand for brass forgings used in gas heating equipment increased dramatically. For capacity reasons, as well as for environmental and many other reasons it became almost impossible to manage this substantial growth in the rented facility.
:: New horizons
In order to be able to build a new factory BONS & EVERS acquired 10,000 sqm of land around 1960, with a possibility to purchase another 15,000 sqm. In 1965 the new factory - built on 4,000 sqm - could be opened! From that moment on the company could really start to expand and strengthen its position in its home market as well as in foreign markets.
The production surface had to be expanded several times ever since, merely because an increasing number of customers wished to outsource not only the forging process to BONS & EVERS, but the machining process as well. As a consequence a new machining shop was built in 1992 with a used surface of 3,500 sqm. In 1993 the production facilities of BONS & EVERS were already covering 14,000 Qm!
:: Further growth
In 1992 a change in the management took place at BONS & EVERS, as Martin Evers, son of one of the founders, joined the company as managing director. In order to be able to neutralize increasing production costs as well as to face increasing global competition a concept for a new highly modern fully automated forging shop was developped. This capital-intensive project was successfully realized in three building phases (1997, 1998 and 2002). This investment formed an important foundation for the international organic growth the company has seen until today .
:: BONS & EVERS Group
In 1999 BONS & EVERS HOLDING acquired a german competitor located in the Black Forest (Voehrenbach) called SIEDLE WARMPRESSTEILE, a company with over 200 years of experience in forging and machining brass. More acquisitions were made in 2003, 2005 and 2007 in order to build up additional competences in the group for forging copper and aluminium, as well as for in-house surface treatment (chrome). Due to these strategic acquisitions BONS & EVERS could develop into becoming the group specialist for brass stampings. For more information, please refer to “Holding”.
